Journey Into Spring - Prelude

4/3/2016

Remember my crocus from a few posts back? Well, they're still hanging in there. Tough little buggers. I was so excited about the early onset of spring that it somehow slipped my mind that I live in Northern Michigan. I was just about to pull my wool socks back out of the drawer when my girlfriend Toni called. I smiled when she said "I've got something I want to run past you." I knew it was going to be something good.

But that was yesterday...

And yesterday's gone!
Lucky for me, Toni was looking for a companion to go along on a road trip. I'm always down for an adventure so that was about all I needed to hear to know I was in! After hearing all of the details I had only one question... Am I Thelma or Louise?  :D

We're leaving this Friday for Louisiana and I am so excited. I love to see new scenery especially when you get off the beaten path. I have never been to Louisiana or Mississippi nor have I seen Western Tennessee. (Tennessee is one of my favorite states to visit!) But what excites me most is knowing that with every mile we drive we'll be traveling deeper into spring.

I will be taking notes and lots of photos to document my journey through spring from the 45th Parallel to the Deep South. For those who don't already know, we live just a few miles north of the 45th Parallel, the halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole!

I'll be flying home solo with stops in Atlanta, GA and Detroit, MI before finally arriving in Traverse City. I'm going to try to pack light, just a carry-on. (Ha! This oughta be good and probably worthy of a blog post all on its own.) Unfortunately, that means no laptop or blog posts until I get home. But I will post photos along the way to our Pillywiggins Garden Facebook Page. I hope you'll come along for the ride.
