What's the best way to kick off Labor Day Weekend? We spent all day Friday touring Northern Michigan looking for bargains. Labor Day Weekend is the last big weekend for yard sales. We only found a few treasures but I really scored with this fused glass plate for $3.00. There is definitely more than $3 worth of materials in this plate. Glass is expensive! But I won't be recycling this one. I love it and plan to keep it as is. Sunday we spent the day boating with friends. It was a perfect day for boating but even with sunscreen I managed to burn. We traveled through Lake Charlevoix from East Jordan, through Ironton, into Round Lake in Charlevoix, through the channel & under the drawbridge out to Fisherman's Island in Lake Michigan. There was a lot to see and enjoy. We were gone all day but we were never more than 15 miles from home. Aren't we the lucky ones?! I love this corner of Northern Michigan. A couple years ago when the water was down, Fisherman's Island was a peninsula. Lake levels are up and it's once again an island. The water is about waist deep between the island and the point but there's a surprisingly strong current. Waves come into this area from both directions. The water was cold but it was worth getting out of the boat to stand in the center where the waves meet.
